Eichenried is “Home of the BMW International Open”
Since the Eichenried golf course was founded in 1989, the meanwhile only tournament of the PGA European Tour in Germany is regularly held at the Eichenried championship course. Every year the BMW International Open attracts about 60,000 visitors and the international media world. Eichenried is “Home of the BMW International Open” and meets the professional requirement in every respect.
The BMW International Open stands for top-notch international golf, excellent organisation and a special atmosphere. It is one of the most popular events among players. Among the legends that have played and triumphed here are Ernie Els, Greg Norman, Severiano Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, John Daly, Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam, Retief Goosen, Miguel Angel Jiménez, Vijay Singh and Bernhard Langer. Germany’s new golf star Martin Kaymer triumphed in 2008, and top golfer Marcel Siem once learned to play golf in Eichenried because his parents managed the club restaurant in the beginnings.
