1987 to 1999

1987

  • Establishment of limited partnership (Träger-KG) and Golfclub München Nord-Eichenried by Horst W. Ernst (19.03.1987)
  • Completion of regional planning procedure with the regional government of Upper Bavaria (30.11.1987)


1988

  • Ground-breaking ceremony for the golf course with an area of approx. 80 ha on the Weiler family estate at the beginning of Eichenried, municipality of Moosinning (19.03.1988)
  • Start of play on a provisional 9-hole short course and start on training with pros Tim Holroyd and Errol Dimmit
  • Clubhouse topping-out ceremony (15.10.1988)


1989

  • Opening of the 18-hole championship course (architect: Kurt Roßknecht) (17.06.1989)
  • The President of the Bavarian Golf Association (BGV), Dr. Wolfgang Bauer, hits the first, so-called “golden ball” – one-armed (!)
  • 1st PGA tournament, the “BMW International Open” at the initiative of club founder Horst W. Ernst; five of America’s top 10 players are at the start: over 35,000 spectators; winner: David Feherty


1990

  • players are at the start: previous year’s winner David Feherty sets the course record – valid to this day – of 62 strokes (he had already done this a year beforehand, but with shortened tees)


1991

  • 3rd BMW International Open; winner: Sandy Lyle


1992

  • 4th BMW International Open; winner: Paul Azinger
  • Zenith of the membership boom
  • Pro Ken Williams comes to Eichenried (today head pro)
  • Herbert Forster plays the best tournament result as an amateur with a round of 67: this corresponds to a result of 5 under on a par-72 course (02.08.1992)


1993

  • 5th BMW International Open; winner: Peter Fowler


1994-1996

  • BMW International Open at St. Eurach
  • Extensive course renovations and improvements at Eichenried


1997

  • 9th BMW International Open; winner: Robert Karlsson


1998

  • Signing of full-time managing director Dieter von Restorff, start of professional management in Eichenried
  • 1st Hilton Munich Park Summer Tournament (since then annually)
  • 10th BMW International Open; winner: Russell Claydon


1999

  • Reorganisation of managerial level, election of present-day executive committee, start of PR work (news, annual magazine, PR info)
  • Establishment of Golfschule Ken Williams at GC München Nord-Eichenried (head pro Ken Williams has already been at Eichenried since 1992)
